The Morning Rush…
I am the proud mother of three amazing girls. I am so excited to share my thoughts with you every month. Let’s dive right in. Summer break flew by as usual, and the kids are back to school. I don’t know about you, but I need to get more organized. My mornings are chaotic. I’m trying to get three kids dressed, teeth brushed, breakfast served and out the door before the first bell rings. Whew! I’m exhausted before we even leave. I have found a few ideas on Pinterest that may make my mornings a little less hectic.
First of all, I really dislike packing lunches. One way to make packing lunches less miserable is letting your kids help you pack them. It’s a win-win situation. Not only are they helping you pack it, they will be more likely to eat what is packed. Set-up plastic bins in your pantry and refrigerator. Label each bin with a specific food group and how many servings they need to grab. For example, the vegetable bin can include carrot sticks, cucumber slices or celery sticks in snack baggies. Voila. Lunches are packed!
Next, for my girls, getting the right outfit picked out each day is a challenge. I cannot tell them what I like, or it will never be worn again. I don’t know when I became so out of style. To avoid the stress of picking out an outfit every morning, have them pick an outfit for each day of the week on Sunday night. Theoretically, all my laundry will be washed, folded and put away. Ha! Buy a plastic container with drawers, and label each drawer with a day of the week. Have your child pick out their entire outfit for each day of the week. This takes away the stress of finding the matching sock that is always missing.
Lastly, get everything prepared the night before if possible. I’m completely exhausted by the evening, but it makes a huge difference in the morning. Get book bags packed, shoes picked out and the table set for breakfast.
Now if only I could follow my own advice!
