Fandom Fest returns to Lee County libraries in October

Fandom Fest is back for all ages in 2023 with more activities than ever. After last year’s hiatus due to Hurricane Ian, the library system is gearing up to celebrate pop culture from Oct. 1 through 30 at events happening throughout the Lee County Library System.

This year’s Fandom Fest features cosplay, crafts, video gaming, superheroes, a celebration of Disney animation, a Swiftie dance party, trivia, wizards and more. These free, fun activities provide an engaging way to interact with others at the library and discover amazing print and electronic resources on a variety of pop culture topics. Costumes are encouraged at many of the events. For a complete calendar of events and locations, visit www.leelibrary.net/fandomfest.

Fandom Fest began as Comic Fest in 2016 and by 2019 had evolved into a celebration of all things pop culture. In addition to in-person programs and events, Fandom Fest highlights the library’s online digital collection of anime, comics, graphic novels and manga.

“We want to spread the fandom fun all around the county,” said Melissa Baker, manager of Programming & Community Outreach and Fandom Fest coordinator. “Bringing programs out to the library branches gives everyone a way to participate.”

The Lee County Library System has 13 branches to serve Lee County residents.

Library programs are always free and open to the public. For more information, call 239-479-4636.
