Florida Repertory Theatre
Florida Rep Education spring workshops and classes are here. Offerings include classes in creative writing and a theatre tech workshop. Behind the “Scenes” Creative Writing workshop for ages 11 – 13 is on Saturdays, March 2 & 9. Behind the “Scenes” is an introduction to playwriting with a focus on “scene work.” In this 2-week, 4-hour writing workshop, students will be challenged to explore and devise story ideas with the goal of completing fully developed scenes to be performed by fellow students in the class. Also, a Junior Theatre Tech Workshop for ages 12 – 18 includes six class sessions starting March 6 (in preparation for Beauty & The Beast). Classes will be held 3 days a week. In each class, students will be introduced to a new area of technical theatre (i.e. stage management, lighting, sound, set design/props, costuming and stage makeup). After students complete the two-week session, they will be assigned a mentor from our Florida Repertory Production Team and be given on-the-job training in one of the technical field positions as they prepare to work backstage for our upcoming conservatory production.
