Southwest Florida residents and visitors are invited to dine with a purpose during the region’s biggest culinary event of the year, Sizzle Dining.Set for Sept. 5 – Sept. 25, a record-breaking 114 restaurants in Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties are serving specially priced prix-fixe menus including two-course lunches for $19 or $29, and three-course dinners starting at $29, $39 or $49. New this year, Sizzle Dining is introducing a pop-up.
Registration for Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) is now open for the 2023-2024 school year in Lee, Collier, Hendry and Glades counties. The free educational program is available to 4-year-olds that reside in Florida, regardless of family income. Voluntary Prekindergarten is designed to give children a jump-start for school by incorporating early literacy and math, language and social skills. VPK classrooms are taught by highly qualified teachers with a focus on school.
The 22nd annual Southwest Florida Reading Festival has arrived, and with it comes a fully virtual celebration of the power of reading. The festival showcases nearly 30 best-selling authors in addition to crafts, contests and prizes all month long this March. Live events start March 1, but attendees can visit the festival website now to view the author lineup, plan their schedule and take a look at the virtual marketplace.
Given the circumstances with COVID-19 the River District Alliance (RDA) Board of Directors has decided to celebrate July 4th a little differently this year – LOOKING UP! The RDA is working with the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team, who will be flying over the City of Fort Myers in their World War II aircrafts (starting at noon). The flight plan as yet to be determined but will be flying throughout the city.
