21st Annual Southwest Florida Reading Festival

The Southwest Florida Reading Festival is a free event presented annually by the Lee County Library System to promote reading, literacy, and library services. At Taco Fest, every vendor must offer a $2 taco for you to taste. Taco Fest is a Family Friendly event featuring live local musical entertainment with plenty of food trucks and restaurants offering delicious food. With over 30 vendors, there will be plants of all kinds, trees, shrubs, ground cover, native plants, and miniatures to name a few. Garden Art will include essential and fragrance oils, glass reflections, stepping stones, metal works, fish faces, and various planters. A kids booth, with a face painter, will have activities and take home projects for all ages. Food, music and opportunity drawings will be available thru out the day. ECHO’s Global Food and Farm Festival

An old house in rural England becomes the home base for four children who wander into an incredible country through an old wardrobe and help the country return to summer. Lions Shrimp Festival Parade & Festival

Parade: 10 a.m. Saturday
Festival: March 14 -15
Shrimp Festival Parade: This 2 mile long parade runs down the main street of town (Estero Blvd) from the beach school to Lynn Hall Memorial Park and Festival Grounds on the beach. The Matanzas bridge closes at 9 a.m. Parade goers can watch from the sides of the parade route and catch prizes from the floats that are thrown. Parade: Sat. March 14 at 10 a.m. The festival runs March 14-15 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. 239-634-3887

Be My Neighbor Day

Young people and their families can hop from one neighborhood to another on Saturday, March 28, indoors and outdoors at the WGCU broadcast building). Games, crafts, performers and other activities await in three neighborhoods inspired by Mister Rogers: Meet the Helpers, Science & Environment, and Education & Creativity. The free party includes giveaways and photo opportunities with the costumed characters. New this year is an additional event, a character breakfast with Daniel and Katerina before Be My Neighbor Day opens. This is a ticketed event. Limited seating is available for breakfast.
